Strictly Come Dancing 2022 week two live: Tony Adams attempts the Charleston

Welcome back to Strictly 2022! After an a-maze-ing opening last week, here’s what you can expect on the second competitive show of the series…

It’s time to tango

At least for same-sex pair Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer, who are matching their moody tango faces to break-up queen Adele this week, while James Bye and Amy Dowden are tangoing to West Country wonder Ed Sheeran. Elsewhere, as in Week 1, it’s a hotchpotch of styles, but that should prove illuminating. Ellie Simmonds, Fleur East, Richie Anderson and Molly Rainford all brought Latin fierceness last time round – but can they transform into ballroom beauties?

Conversely, will Helen Skelton unleash her Latin hips, and can comedian Ellie Taylor get serious enough to conquer the bull ring with this year’s first paso doble? Both had trouble with self-belief early on. Skelton is also juggling her training with three kids (and being the cast social secretary) – you can read more about that in her exclusive Telegraph Strictly diary.

As for our early leaderboard-toppers, Will Mellor should be looking good again this week with a salsa, since he was already gyrating and hip-swivelling away in Week 1. But it’ll be a big change of pace for Hamza Yassin, who astonished everyone with his charmingly graceful foxtrot, but now has to switch it up for the fast and furious jive.
